bruce bogtrotter and the cake

last week on roald dahl stunt blogging, i changed leff into a mouse. he has since recovered and was able to try one of the dishes that we had both been eagerly awaiting. namely, bruce bogtrotter's chocolate cake from matilda*.

the cookbook* requires that you use one whole bag of semisweet chocolate chips

and not one or two but six eggs.

this is a really rich, dense cake. although you cannot tell before it goes into the oven.

it does have a tendency to sink but, really, who cares?! just look at this hockey puck of deliciousness!

since leff was not the foul carbuncle, the poisonous pustule, the thief, crook, pirate, brigand, rustler or miserable little gumboil who stole a piece of my private chocolate cake from my tea tray, i didn't think it necessary to punish him by making him eat this whole cake. still, why not try?!

and so we cut into it...

and kept going and going and going....

gifs make

until there was nothing left on the plate! sadly, no one was around to cheer our efforts. perhaps next time we should attempt this in a crowded school auditorium.

oh yes! i failed to break the plate over leff's head because, well, i really like that plate.

next week on roald dahl stunt blogging:  we get foxy with two dishes! sadly, george clooney does not make a special appearance.

*links will take you to amazon. i am an amazon affiliate. should you purchase matilda or roald dahl's revolting recipes through these links, i will receive monetary compensation.
